You know how much you love your family and friends. Have you ever thought about how much you love yourself? When it comes to criticism, we are the hardest on ourselves. You say things to yourself that you’d never dream of saying to a loved one. Most of the time without realizing it!
Imagine what kind of mindset you will have if you build yourself up like you do your loved ones. And I know your thinking, I have so much to do, so many people to care for I don’t have the time to worry about myself. But remember, you can’t get water from an empty well. The same goes for us, we can’t continuously give everything to others without loving ourselves.
So how do you break a habit you weren’t sure you had? We have some helpful tips to love yourself.
Daily Affirmations. Yesterday we shared with you 20 mindset mantras. The mantras not only help shift your mindset, but they also remind you that you are enough. They boost your self-esteem and confidence which contributes to self-love.
Self-Compassion. We are quick to understand when a friend or loved one needs compassion from us, but do you give yourself that same compassion?
Practice Gratitude. Keep a gratitude journal and write each day what you're grateful for. You can do it when you wake up and start your day or before going to bed. A grateful mind is a joyous mind.
Confidence. Be comfortable with your individuality and confidence in who you are. Walk tall and smile. Confidence is about feeling good about yourself, not anyone else’s approval.
Practice Self-Care. Whether it’s changing your daily eating habits, getting more sleep, better skin-care routine, or taking a 10 minute time out. Do what you need to put you first and practice self-care. If it seems overwhelming to change a lot of things, start small, one thing at a time, and when you're ready introduce another.
