3 Ways to Overcome a Negative Mindset


We all go through a time in our life where we have negative thoughts, for some of us, it’s a daily occurrence. But what do you do when it becomes too much and soon all you can do is think negatively? When you have a negative mindset, you're more likely to have more stress and anxiety that carries over into your life.


What can you do to overcome a negative mindset? We’ve got some tips to help you do just that.


  1. Give Back to Your Community. Giving back to your community has multiple benefits. It strengthens our ties to others and research has shown when you have positive social interactions with others is central for good mental and physical health. Volunteering is a great way to give back to your community, not only are you helping someone else, volunteering counteracts the effects stress, anxiety, and anger can have. Even if you are disabled or have transportation issues you can still volunteer. Check within your community to see how you can volunteer via phone or computer.

  2. Identify the Negative in Your Life. Many times this goes unnoticed. It could be a belief that you're never going to be good at anything, the people around you, to what you watch or listen to. Take the time to identify the negativity you experience every day and make the changes needed. Tell yourself I can do this and I am good enough to accomplish whatever I want to. Turn off the tv, take a break from social media. Identify the negative and turn them into positives.

  3. Surround Yourself with the Right People. Have you noticed when you’re around people a lot you tend to pick up their sayings? Misery loves company. The same goes for their attitude and behaviors. When you surround yourself with positive people you’ll feel happier and motivated. Take a step back and think about how you feel when you’re with the people around you. Are you surrounding yourself with the right people?
